How can I get Coaching?

Coaching sessions can take place in person, by phone or by Skype.  Contact us to discuss which option might best suit you.

What is Coaching?

Coaching is an alliance between coach and client, which works to maximise potential in all areas of the client’s life.  In a safe, non-judgemental enviroment, the client is free to explore their values, needs and abilities, setting and achieving goals to take their life to the next level.

How is it different from counselling or therapy?

Coaching focuses on the present and the future.  It acknowledges the client’s current situation and resources, and sets goals for the future, overcoming barriers along the way to create balance and fulfillment.  Counselling and therapy look to understand why the client has come to be in their current state, analysing the path and causes.  In coaching, the client sets the agenda, boundaries and pace, and will be met in their own space by the coach, then working together to achieve agreed goals.

What is Personal Development Coaching?

We are all born with unique potential.  However, we develop negative beliefs and behaviours throughout out lives, which inhibit us achieving what we truly deserve in life.  These may be picked up from parents and family, in school or work, or from society in general.  These self-limiting habits and attitudes can become so ingrained in us that we don’t even notice them anymore.  We can end up with a lack of confidence, drive or direction, and hold ourselves back from being our very best.  Coaching increases awareness of these blockages, empowers the client to overcome them, and frees the true self to achieve fulfillment.  Clients work towards achieve self knowledge and belief, emotional well-being, life balance and direction.

Is Coaching for everyone?

Coaching can work for almost anyone, in virtually any area of life or business.  It is a powerful process, which achieves wonderful results, but it does require commitment, courage and a willingness to change.  It also calls for responsibility and accountablility on behalf of the client.  It is about moving forward and as long as the client is willing to keep making those steps, then coaching can be a life-changing experience.  It may not be the best option for somebody suffering from a mental illness or serious addiction.

Is Coaching for me?

If you want to improve any aspect of your life, then coaching may be for you.  Coaching empowers you to make the changes you want.  Maybe you want to get a new job or promotion, start your own business or finally get that project underway.  Is your life out of balance, or feel like there’s something missing?  Perhaps you want to develop your self confidence, communication skills or just feel happier.  We all have the talents and resources to make these things happen, and coaching will enable you to get there.  If you are unsure whether coaching is right for your situation, call Darragh to discuss it on 087 784 2848, or email info@upwardsireland.com

How does it work?

Coaching can take place in person, by phone, or by skype.  Sessions usually last an hour and some contact between sessions is common.  In a non-judgemental space, the client will set the agenda for the coaching, deciding what areas of life they wish to improve.  Together, the coach and client will assess the current situation and set goals for the future.  They will work to overcome any obstacles which may arise on any level (from practical to emotional) and set achievable steps towards the goal. Usually the client will have set themselves a definite task to carry out before the following session.  The coach’s role is to use their range of skills to meet the client where they are, listen, encourage and draw out the client’s natural abilities to achieve their goals.
